Granite Construction has been a customer with Holt of California since opening its Sacramento branch in 1955. Recently, Granite was awarded a sub-contract from Turner Construction, for the excavation portion of the new Sacramento Kings Arena Project, in downtown Sacramento.

Granite Construction was hired to remove 110,000 cubic yards of material from the Kings Stadium job site. John DeSilva, Dirt Supervisor for Granite Construction, stated that he and his crew had been working 12-hour shifts, 6 days a week to maintain their tight deadline. "We're here rain, shine, wind or mud, till the job is done. Oustide of safety, production is our number one priority; this is why we like working with Holt of California so much. They provide the service and quality products we need to get the job done. We rely on our machines to help us get our job done in a timely and efficient manner."

DeSilva goes on to say, "For this particular job, we used three D6 CAT Bulldozers and two 330 CAT excavators (tier 2), which Trevor Hobbs, the Sacramento Branch Equipment Supervisor, had wrapped with the Sacramento Kings logo."

Hobbs stated that he and the project engineer thought it would be a great way to show the community, Vivek Ranadivé, the Kings owner and the team how excited Granite Construction is to be here working on this project. He goes on to say, "The wrap job on the 330 excavator has been really well received by the community, from the Kings Owner on down. Everyone was really impressed when they saw that. It's a great way to show the community how excited we are to be here and to have a new stadium for our team."

The project broke ground October 26, 2014 and is scheduled to be completed January 2016, in time for the start of the 2016-2017 basketball season.
