1883 The Stockton Wheel Company was established by Benjamin and Charles Holt.

1886 The first Holt “link belt” combined harvester was sold, replacing unreliable mechanical geared harvesters.

1890 Benjamin Holt unveiled his version of the steam traction engine with new, patented steering clutches.

1892 The Stockton Wheel Company was incorporated as The Holt Manufacturing Company.

1904 Benjamin Holt tested a steam powered machine that moved on self-laying tracks instead of wheels. He named this invention the “Caterpillar”.

1931 Marysville Tractor & Equipment Co. was formed by Daniel W. Beatie to cover Marysville, California.

1935 Roseville facility in Placer County was opened.

1939 Holt Bros. was formed by Parker M. Holt and Harry D. Holt to cover Santa Maria, California.

1940 Holt Bros. gave up Santa Maria territory to Joseph G. Moore Company and took over the Stockton, California territory from L.F. Grimsely, Inc. which included facilities in Lodi and Tracy.

1947 Opened location in Robbins, California.

1955 Ken Beatie became President & General Manager.

1962 Holt Bros. added Modesto territory from Valley Tractor Co., including facilities in Los Banos and Merced. Service territory consisted of six counties in the San Joaquin Valley and although the primary industry was agriculture, logging and construction contributed to yearly sales volume.

1962 Added Sacramento, Yolo and part of Solano counties to territory (part of Weaver Tractor Co.) with locations in Sacramento and Woodland.

1963 Marysville Tractor & Equipment Co. officially changed its name to Tenco Tractor, Inc. with facilities in Marysville, Robbins, Sacramento and Woodland, California. The name was derived from the ten counties it served. Business rapidly changed from predominantly agricultural to industrial, while maintaining its agricultural base.

1969 Tenco opened new headquarters in Pleasant Grove north of Sacramento.

1977 Gordon Beatie became President of the company.

1982 Tenco Tractor, Inc. took over part of the I.G. Zumwalt Company’s territory with facilities in West Sacramento and Williams.

1987 Parker M. Holt and Harry D. Holt retired. Victor Wykoff, Jr. and Ron Monroe purchased the company and became President/CEO and Executive Vice President, respectively.

1999 Tenco Tractor Inc. and Holt Bros. joined forces to become Holt of California with approximately 500 employees in 11 locations. Ken Monroe became President of the new company and continues to serve in that capacity today.

2000 Caterpillar celebrated their 75th Anniversary.

2004 Caterpillar celebrated 100 years of the track-type tractor. Sales and revenues reached $30 billion.

2006 Holt of California celebrated its 75th anniversary and now has over 700 employees in 14 locations.

2007 Holt opened a Cat Rental Store in Vacaville and an Ag Store in Woodland.

More and more, today’s machines rely on “healthy” hydrualic systems for maximum productivity. Since hydraulic system efficiency can erode up to 20% before an operator detects a problem, we recommend hydrualic-intensive machines udergo a “Custom Hydrualic Service Inspection” twice a year or every 1,000 hours. At Holt of California we offer complete hydraulic service capabilites for Cat and Non-Cat equipment.

We’re your one stop shop for all your Hydrualic equipment needs. High, medium or low pressure hoses can be made while you wait. For cylinders there are many repair options available. We also restore pumps and motors and can inspect, clean and reseal valves and more. So when you need hydrualic service, we can help with a Custom Hydraulic Service Inspection.

During our CHS (Custom Hydraulic Service) inspections we:
* Conduct a detailed visual walkaround inspection of the hydraulics, engine
compartment, cab, power train and ground engaging tools
* Drift test all hydraulic cylinders
* Perform complete checks of cycle times and system pressures
* Stall test the hydraulic system
* Take a sample of the hydraulic oil and perform S*O*S Services.

After interpreting the inspection and fluid analysis results, we�ll meet with you to deliver a complete report. If service is necessary, we�ll also provide a quote.

The Merced College Welding Technology Program prepares participants for employment in welding repair, job shop welding, and production welding. The program is also designed to retrain and update persons presently employed in welding and related trades.

Current earthmoving and fine grading processes are labor intensive and dependent on manpower and instruments. Maintaining consistent grade between stakes is challenging, even for experienced operators. AccuGrade GPS reduces labor requirements and helps operators work to the design plan by accurately cutting, filling, and reducing material cost.

The AccuGrade GPS control system is the best solution when the construction site involves contours, rather than single or dual slope planes. The AccuGrade 3D system uses GPS technology to compare the blade position to a three-dimensional computerized site plan and signals the operator or hydraulic system to raise or lower the blade to achieve the design requirements.

Advanced GPS technology solutions move the design plan to the cab for greater operator control, increased accuracy, higher productivity and lower operating costs.

The AccuGrade GPS Grade Control System is a high technology machine control and guidance system that allows dozer operators to grade with increased accuracy, without the need for survey stakes. * A Holt of California Career Education Scholarship application must be completed and submitted within the established timeline. Incomplete applications will be returned to the applicant for completion prior to the deadline. If applications are incomplete or are received after the deadline, the application will not be considered.

The subject matter is designed to help one secure employment in the truck and diesel industries.

CAT Emissions Solutions for Stationary Equipment

Holt has the right environmental solutions for your stationary engines. Backed by the reliability and performance of Caterpillar Power Systems, these solutions reduce emissions and are tailored to fit your CAT 3400, 3500 and 3600 diesel and gas engines.

After treatment Options:

Oxidation Catalysts create a chemical reaction with exhaust gases as they pass over the catalyst material. This reaction reduces some of the particulate matter and converts a large portion of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and other emissions into carbon dioxide and water.

Selective Catalytic Reduction effectively reduces emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx). By injecting urea (a non-hazardous form of ammonia) into the hot exhaust stream, this process reduces most exhaust emissions to harmless nitrogen water vapor.
Diesel Particulate Filters use special filters to reduce particulate matter (PM), carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions. Exhaust backpressure is maintained through passive regeneration, a process that automatically removes particulate buildup.

Using sophisticated analytical technology, experienced technicians perform testing on oil, coolant and fuel samples that have been taken at regularly scheduled intervals.
