Service Supervisor/Technical Communicator

Holt of California is seeking a qualified Service Supervisor/Technical Communication to coordinate operations of Power Systems Division Service Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Directs daily shop activities of service department and assist with field activities as needed.
· Provides technical support to apprentices, mechanics and technicians.
· Coordinates workload and job assignments with Field Service Dispatcher.
· Oversees proper compliance of company safety and environmental guidelines. Has the knowledge and experience to supervise the set-up of load bank testing of large high voltage engine generator sets.
· Follows company policies and procedures on personnel issues.
· Assist in developing training schedules for both mechanics and apprentice mechanics.
· Research and investigate repair status information for customers, mechanics and other department employees as required.
· Performs technical communicator duties including requests to factory engineering for technical assistance as well as documenting and reporting product problems.
· Assist in preparation of quotes for customers as required.
· Proactively communicate and document all changes to customer, including scheduling changes, job status changes and cost estimate/flat rate changes.
· Keeps Service Manager informed of shop activity levels, assistance needs and significant problems.
· Directly supervises all Power Systems Division service apprentices and shop mechanics plus Field Personnel as needed. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and/or five years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience in rebuilding and reuse guidelines for Caterpillar components. Must have experience with and full understanding of diesel and gas fueled engines, controls, fuel, lubrication and cooling systems. Must have understanding of AC power generation, control and distribution, including power output, power factor, circulating current and generator harmonic measurement and calculation. Should have understanding of transfer switch and automatic engine control logic and operation.
