In order for your application for ThinkBIG to be considered you must take and turn in qualifying scores for three Academic Assessment & Placement tests, prior to the application deadline. These tests may be taken several different ways:

  • Take during one of the two scheduled SJDC Open Houses
  • Attend a regularly scheduled SJDC assessment test by scheduling an ACE Appointment online.
  • Attend another community college's scheduled assessment test. You will need to submit these results to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., (916) 798-3424, to ensure that your test scores are transferred from that school over to SJDC. A SJDC Student ID number is required to complete the transfer.

Please note: A valid SJDC Student ID is required to take the tests or to transfer your scores from tests taken at another institution. Acquiring a student ID can take 3-5 days to process after filling out SJDC's Application for Admission.

Enrolling with SDJC does not obligate you to enroll in, or attend classes there, nor is there any cost associated with submitting the Admission Application.

The ThinkBIG program has three Academic requirements for acceptance into the program. They are as follows:

  • Academic Assessment Reading Level II
  • Academic Assessment Composition Level III
  • Academic Assessment Math Level IV

Your assessment test results will be forwarded to Holt of California for inclusion with your ThinkBIG application, if you took the test through SJDC. However, if you took the tests at another institution, you will need to email or mail a copy of your test scores to This email address is being protected from spambots.
